This is the old school in the village of Varbovchets. It is abandoned from years. Left on at the mercy of fats it is surviving how it can. When I was young we used to play inside during the days and at the evenings we gathered to listen music. Now the school is locked mostly because there aren’t any children to play in it. The village is disappearing as is the school. I can’t blame anyone for this, but I do feel pain walking by all these abandoned buildings. For me this picture represents my country at this moment — no people to live in the small villages, abandoned schools, padlocks with chains on the gates, broken windows, surrounded by an amazing nature.
The life goes by all those abandoned buildings and there isn’t anybody to use then, to live in them. Why? Because some of the young people went abroad in a search of better life (can’t blame them — looking at that I would too), some of the others went in the bigger cities again to work and look for better life. But the small village, the old school — they are left alone.

I started shooting pictures at a young age — yes, but I never learned photography. When I bought my first DSLR last year I asked myself what will I shoot. the answer came several days later when I went to my village — I wanted to shoot my small village. I wanted to do this with the single hope that this way I could show it’s beauty to all the people around the world. I am still learning how to make nice images in order to make the people feel what I feel while taking them. I will learn, maybe slowly, because this is just a hobby I do in the free time, but I am willing to learn.
